Neighborhood

You have free access to hundreds of acres of private woodland, glades, and rivers with a stay at Marrington Mill.

Footpaths lead straight from your door, so you can enjoy country walks whenever the mood takes you; dipping your feet into bubbling streams, breathing in clean air, and spotting kingfishers, deer, and our resident otters. It’s a natural playground for kids and adults alike!

*Please note that the garden at Marrington Mill is not secured.

The estate is in a prime location for adventures and walks in the Shropshire Hills AONB, which boasts beautiful rolling landscapes and many historic sites. The market town of Montgomery, with its quaint shops and dining scene, is just a 6-minute drive from Marrington, while Shropshire’s bustling county town, Shrewsbury, is only 20 miles away.

Space

The ideal countryside getaway for large families and groups, our five-bedroom holiday cottage sits right by the riverside at the very heart of a woodland estate.

Recently renovated, Marrington Mill offers total comfort, with luxe furnishings, modern appliances, and stunning features like a historic inglenook fireplace.

Blessed with a cottage garden, a hot tub, and all-encompassing country views, it has everything you and your loved ones need for quality time in the great outdoors.

Marrington Mill has rested on the banks of the River Camlad for over 200 years. As you walk through the garden, you’ll see nothing but nature and hear only the sounds of flowing water. It’s so restful!

Step inside, and you’ll discover a large, characterful living room with a wood burner and a huge dining room that makes every meal feel like an occasion. The kitchen is contemporary and comes with all the essentials you need for an easy holiday.

Split over the two upper floors, the five bedrooms feel plush and cosy. Two are ensuite while the others share a bathroom.

Marrington Mill is genuinely off-grid. WIFI download speeds average 3 Mbps. For many, it offers a rare opportunity to disconnect from home and enjoy some interrupted peace in nature.

Marrington Mill May break
We had a wonderful time during our week’s stay at Marrington Mill. There was plenty of room for the 3 generations of our family and the house was so comfortable, beautifully decorated & furnished and extremely well equipped. The setting of the house is stunning and we loved spending time in the gorgeous gardens, enjoying the peace & quiet. It was good to explore the surrounding area & we founds lots to do, for young & old. Thank you for creating such a wonderful place- we really hope to stay there again in the future.

Wonderful relaxing holiday at Marrington Mill
We had a truly fantastic holiday at Marrington Mill. We are two families that holiday together frequently and we all agreed it's hard to beat such an amazing cottage and idyllic location! The layout of the cottage was just perfect - having two lounges was ideal, the bedrooms and bathrooms are good sizes and the large kitchen and dining area worked really well. Our kids (aged 16, 13 and 12) also loved it and spent a LOT of time in the hot tub! The gardens and the view are so beautiful and we really enjoyed the secluded location. Having direct access onto footpaths was brilliant and we did numerous walks from the cottage - appreciating that we didn't need to take the car out to do so. Having an EV charging point was also a real plus for us! Thank you for creating such a wonderful holiday home in a beautiful setting, we would love to return to Marrington Mill in the future.

A beautiful house in a beautiful setting
We all loved the house and the setting and would give it 5 stars but for a couple of points which I will mention below. A few days before our arrival I did send an email with a few questions and I never received a reply. The welcome pack of complimentary coffee and tea was a little underwhelming when compared to many other cottages we have been to. A handful of tea back and some sugar sachets and some instant coffee and a tiny bottle of milk and some maltesers didn't quite match up against the cost of the stay we thought. Otherwise, everything else about the stay was really great and we hope to come back again. Thanks

Absolutely Fabulous
We really enjoyed our stay at The Mill, a fabulous and magical place, the setting looked like Narnia in the frost when we arrived. Perfect in every way. We will be coming back!

Birthday celebrations
A surprise venue for 70th Birthday celebrations late November. we had a wonderful time . a mixed group of all ages. walked from the mill- fairy trail ok on lower slopes- footpath out of valley could do with a bit of attention. Good pooh sticks bridge too!House very comfortable and a lot warmer than our own houses, but heating system very noisy particularly at night. House also very well equipped, spotless and the welcome basket of goodies a real treat. we worried a bit about the fluffy blue seats of the dining chairs and a toddler with sticky fingers. All small details. we very much look forward to a return visit

Practically perfect
Absolutely perfect, bed linen was amazing, house was amazing, there were some issues but nothing to ruin the stay but perhaps useful to know our opinions. The heating was a bit on and off we turned up the thermostats in the hall and upstairs but sometimes it was chilly and the radiators were off. facilities and kitchen items provided were great the main large frying pan was curved on the bottom from previous overheating of the pan which meant all the oil runs to the edge and your food in the middle gets burnt and the cooker hood was not working in the kitchen for extraction or lighting of the oven. There was often a knocking noise coming from the boiler room when the sink was used in the 1st floor en-suite which was very loud and kept waking me up on the first night but i soon figured out if i flushed the toilet in the en-suite it stopped the knocking noise. The outside lights round the back seemed to have a mind of their own, sometimes the light switches would not turn any off, then sometimes it worked, slightly annoying when trying to star gaze, there were no fire lighters or newspaper to start a fire using the kindling. A really nice touch would be some outside hooks for towels when using the hot tub and to provide some robes to use as well as towels would be an added luxury to the mill. The smart tv in the lounge was awkward to operate through the menu selections perhaps because its quite a cheap model and i was surprised the bedroom on the top floor with en-suite did not have a tv? The extra large bed to the left at the top of the stairs was 2 singles pushed together and was not very comfortable to sleep in. I would 100% come back again and recommend to all one of the best stays we have had in the uk , well done!

Exceptional property and location
Our stay at Marrington Mill really couldn’t have been more perfect. The location is stunning and the property is beautiful and kitted out to a really high standard. We’ll definitely be back! Our only issue was the signposting on the small circular walk wasn’t clear but it made for a lot of laughter when we were completely lost!
